Athletics Carnival - Success!

What a start to Term 2! On Friday the 29th of April, Pittwater House hosted its Athletics Carnival at Narrabeen Sports Centre. It was so wonderful to see such an amazing turn out of excited students participating in all types of events like the races, high jump, shot put and the novelty events like the all popular tug o’ war and sack races.

During the event house spirit was at an all time high, with students across all houses trying their best in each event. The house leaders, sporting their house colours proudly, could be seen cheering the students to the finish line throughout the whole day.

It was a sight to see, with the stands decorated with a ray of white, blue and red to symbolise our houses and undeniable house spirit. Each student, painted in their house colours, created a display of house spirit during each event.

It should be mentioned that it would not have been the day it was without Mr Cosentino’s positive attitude on the microphone encouraging the students to participate in all events and to “slip, slap, slop” that sunscreen on. The day also could not have been possible without the whole staff team who not only organised the event but also cheered students on at each event. It would not have been a successful carnival without our favourite principal Dr Hillier, who was present, taking photos of the house spirit and cheering all of us on from the track.

After an enjoyable day of house spirit, laughs, and competition the long awaited house points were revealed (excluding field events). Morgan came out on top, shortly followed by Butterworth and close after Orock. Special thanks to the House Leaders, who though creative dressup and consistent motivation encouraged all to get involved and to have fun, it would not have been such a memorable carnival without you!

Congratulations to everyone for participating and giving every event a go, further congratulations to everyone who made it to the next round, Good luck! Can’t wait for next years carnival which will be better than ever.
